A van, a bus, and a decent-sized catfish!

Hey everyone!

It’s been a pretty crazy week for the GLV guys, so we thought we’d jump on and fill you guys in.  After 4 awesome shows in Hudson, FL and Jacksonville, FL, it was time to leave the sunshine state.  We stopped at a Lowe’s to make a few extra van keys, and came out to find out that the van wouldn’t start.  We quickly identified our starter as the culprit and phoned AAA for a tow.  We spent several hours walking around the parking lot in 100 degree heat attempting to sell CD’s to Lowe’s customers walking to and from their cars in order to pay for the ensuing repairs (though our efforts only netted us a total of 1 CD sold).

Thankfully, our good friend Flip from the Murray Hill Theatre came and picked up Collan, Ryan, Cody and Wasim, while Evan stayed behind with the tow truck.  We finally got back on the road 6 or 7 hours later and met up with the tour in Savannah, GA.  From there we hopped on the tour bus for the ride up to South Carolina, as space had opened up on the bus due to one of the bands on the tour heading home for the week to attend a wedding.

While in South Carolina, we got a chance to do a bit of fishing (see pictures in the entries below), and receive some words of wisdom from music industry legend Glen Clark (mentor of such acts as Cool Hand Luke, mewithoutYou, Psalters, and many more).  Evan laid down guitar for 4 tracks on Glen’s daughter’s upcoming album in the Clark’s home studio, and then he almost sunk to the bottom of the lake in a leaky kayak.

We headed back to Savannah and picked up our trusty van, got some laundry done, and will be heading out on the town tomorrow to promote Saturday’s show.  Thanks to everyone back home who has sent along words of support and encouragement, and to everyone who laughed at the video of Ryan and Wasim peeing their pants!  We’ll have more footage up for you soon!

We Are:

Evan- Guitar/Vocals
Ryan- Guitar/Vocals
Cody- Bass/Vocals
Wasim- Drums/Percussion

We're called Good Luck Varsity. We love each other, we love what we do, and we love the people who come out to our shows. We believe that the 3 feet of stage we stand on makes us a little taller than you, but it does not make us rockstars, nor does it make those of you standing on the floor inferior - we're all in this together. We are truly humbled and encouraged by every person who downloads our music, buys a t-shirt, or passes along some kind words of encouragement. Beyond all else, we are so thankful for each and every opportunity to do what we love, and we hope the evidence of that fact pours out of us every time we step on the stage.
